Bridgit Mendler was born December 18, 1992 in Washington D.C. At the age of eight, her family moved to Mill Valley San Francisco where she enjoyed performing in local theatre. In 2005, she was a guest star on American soap opera “General Hospital,” and in 2007 starred in “Alice Upside Down” and “Labour Pains” with actress Lindsay Lohan. She then had a supporting role in “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel”, and became a recurring character in the Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverley Place.”
Good Luck Charlie
Bridgit Mendler’s big break through came with the Disney Channel series “Good Luck Charlie,” which premiered in April 2010. She plays Teddy Duncan, the eldest Duncan daughter. The family consists of the older brother PJ, the younger brother Gabe who is played by Bradley Steven Perry, the sister Charlotte (affectionately known as Charlie) and the new baby Toby. Leigh-Allyn Baker stars as mother Amy Duncan, and father Bob is played by Eric Allan Kramer.
After three years and nearly 100 episodes, Disney Channel recently announced that they will not be continuing the series. The fourth and final season commenced in April 2013. The overall success of the series has not only established Bridgit Mendler as an actress but has also been instrumental in launching her musical career.
“Hello My Name Is….”
Bridgit Mendler’s debut album “Hello My Name Is….” was released in October 2012, and officially launched in the UK in March 2013. Her first single “Ready or Not” reached platinum in Canada and New Zealand and was a top 10 hit in the official UK singles chart. Her second single “Hurricane” was officially released in February 2013. In June 2013, Mendler embarked on the “Bridgit Mendler Summer Tour.”The tour commenced in Iowa, and will see her performing 24 shows across the US, ending in Washington. Various interviews and statements have alluded to a possible European tour, but as yet nothing has been confirmed.
As well as being in the throes of her US tour, the industrious Miss Mendler has confirmed that she is currently working on a second album and hopes to have produced anything by autumn. She is also still actively involved with her charitable work, and in July 2012 became an ambassador for the “Give with Target” campaign to raise funds for schools in the United States. In March 2013, she released a spring clothing line inspired by her “Good Luck Charlie” character Teddy Duncan. She also finds time to study at the University of Southern California. With so much zeal and determination, it is easy to see why Bridgit Mendler is very much in demand.
